Ares

[Medical Device UI/UX]

Lead UX/UI Designer

PROBLEM
Electrostimulation is clinically effective for muscle recovery but the devices controlling it were complex, intimidating, and built without the end user in mind. For older adults or anyone unfamiliar with technology, the hardware itself became a barrier to treatment.

ROLE
As lead UX/UI Designer, I worked embedded with engineers, researchers, and developers from concept through delivery. The target users weren't tech-savvy early adopters they were people who needed the therapy to work without having to learn the tool first.

PROCESS
The central tension was precision vs. simplicity: the interface had to support professional-grade treatment protocols without overwhelming users with no technical background. I mapped the full user journey across both clinical and home contexts, identified where complexity could be abstracted away, and built an interaction model centered on guided, step-by-step control.

OUTCOME
The result is Ares, an electrode control app that makes professional muscle recovery accessible to anyone, regardless of age or technical confidence. Precise when it needs to be. Invisible when it doesn't.
